The Reference for Believers
My beloved brothers,
Do you already notice that sport called High Jump? In it, the jumpers have a goal that apparently is simple, that is, through a run and a jump, passing over a crossbar, and without dislodging it. But, it takes a lot of effort, dedication, and balance in the actions.
Spiritually speaking, believers in Jesus have to take also a leap in life, striving to get through the narrow gate and the narrow way.
Furthermore, believers in Jesus have a very well-defined "crossbar", namely: the perfection.
Thus determined the Son of God:
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (Mattew 5:48)
Therefore, let us not believe when someone tell us that it doesn't matter, because God understands and doesn't expect so much from us. It is not truth! Jesus is the truth! Whether we're going to make it or not passing over this “crossbar” is another matter to be dealt with, but it's there and it's been defined by the Lord Jesus.
Noah, man of God, did not listen to what the lost people of his time spoke. He simply strived, pleased God, walked with HIM, and took his leap...
“These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.” (Genesis 6:9)
And now, we who have accepted Christ Jesus, whose sacrifice sanctified us with His blood, must remain firm in Christ, always allowing Him to complete the good work He began in us. In Christ, we can have the following sure confidence:
“For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” (Hebrews 10:1)
Praise the name of the Lord Jesus, who makes us see and reach further with God.
